  • 50ml water

How to make Sfogliatelle Dessert
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 425°F. Grease and flour the baking sheet.
Step 2: For the pastry, whisk the flour, sugar, butter, salt and water in a large bowl. Knead the dough well. And then, Cover with a plastic wrap and let it chill at least 1 hour.
Step 3: For the filling, stir the ricotta, milk, egg, sugar, orange zest, and cinnamon until well blended in a large saucepan. Set aside.
Step 4: Remove the dough out from the refrigerator. Divide it into 2 equal pieces and place on a lightly floured surface. Roll one piece into a 12 x 18 inch rectangle.
Step 5: Brush one piece with some vegetable oil and rolling the pastry up like a jellyroll. Repeat with the remaining 2 pieces. And then, cut the roll into 1-inch pieces.
Step 6: Place one of the slices in the palm of your hand. Press the thumb of your other hand in the center of the pastry and push it down to form a small ribbed cup.
Step 7: Stretch the dough, pushing down with your thumbs and pulling up with your fingers. Form each piece into a cone, shaped 3 to 4 inches across the mouth and 1-inch at the tip.
Step 8: Spoon 2 tablespoons of filling into each pastry cone. Gently press the open edges together to seal the pastry. And then, pull out the top ends to form a seashell shape.
Step 9: Place the Sfogliatelle 2-inch apart on the greased baking sheet.
Step 10: Place into the preheated oven and bake it for 10 to 12 minutes or until the Sfogliatelle become delicate golden brown.
Step 11: Remove the Sfogliatelle from the oven and let it cool to room temperature on a wire rack. Enjoy it!
